This week in band! Music in our Schools Month! Performance

Concert Next Tuesday March 3

Next Tuesday is the Band Concert for Music in our Schools Month.  It is a project grade for all band students and all band students are required to attend and perform.  All students must stay for the entire performance in order to receive credit for attending.

What to wear

Beginners - School pants or skirt and Band T-shirt
Intermediate and Advanced Band - All Black dress clothes or any combination of black and gray  dress clothes. Accents may be blue... such as a scarf or tie.   No jeans or athletic shoes.  Ladies may wear a skirt or dress if it is knee length or longer.  Boys may wear a tie or jacket but it is not required.

Schedule

4:00 - Rehearsal in the band hall and on stage
5:00 - Pizza is served if you order and bring $5 by Monday March 2
6:00 - Concert begins
7:00 - Concert ends

March 24  -  DISD Pre-UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations, Tasby Middle School
April 7, 8 -  UIL Regional Evaluations, Cedar Hill High School
April 25 - Band Day at Sandy Lake Park, Sandy Lake Park
TBD - State Honor Band Recording Session
May 12 - End of Year Concert

Band to perform Thursday night for meet Walker night!

Band Performance Thursday evening  for Meet Walker Night All 7th and 8th Grade Band Students will perform for incoming students and their parents. Students that perform will receive 20 extra credit points.

Performance Schedule 6:00 PM - rehearsal 7:00 - performance 7:15 - dismissed

Solo & Ensemble tomorrow Feb 7

4 students will represent Walker at the DISD Solo Festival. 

Here is your schedule

 

Note - There is no bus.  You must have your own transportation

8:00 - Meet at E.D. Walker Band Hall to practice

8:30 - carpool to Thomas Jefferson High School 4001 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75229

9:00-10:00 - performance times for individuals.  Once you have finished your performance you are free to go.

Make sure you have your accompaniment CD with you

Make sure you are dressed nice for the performance

 

Auditions for Booker T Washington HS

 

Several students will be auditioning for Booker T Washington - Way to go guys!  Your hard work will pay off.
