  • Parents, family members and friends...  thank you for your attendance and help last night.  I am truly grateful for your participation in our events.
  • Thank you to the teachers and administrators that attended last night's concert.  It was great to have our Principal, Dr. Stout in attendance last night.

Notes

  • Students, please note that attending the entire concert and staying for the other band's performance is always part of the assignment.  Performances are a project grade.  Being seated in the audience and being an attentive listener is a must.  We must not be up out of our seat or in the hallways during the performance.  Always follow directions.  I appreciate you all very much.  With Love, Mr. Flemons.

Welcome back!

Welcome to our new and returning students!

We are getting ready for a great school year with the Walker Band.  Good things are already happening. Here are a few highlights from this week.

- We have a record number of students enrolled in band this year... 240!  That's awesome!

- The beginner students have learned the three families of instruments: brass, woodwind, and percussion.  They will be trying instruments out next week and selecting the instrument they will play for the year.  All beginners will play a brass or a woodwind.  Students who also want to play percussion will have opportunities throughout the year to learn and tryout for percussion.

- Intermediate and Advanced Band members have checked out their instruments and have started playing already!

-All students have been given a handbook to show their parents.  There are two forms that must be signed and returned.  If the student is using a school instrument the fee is $25 for instrument usage (for the year). All students have a $25 fee for supplies. Total fees are $50 for the year.  This can be paid all at once or in payments. Whatever works best for your family will be fine.  Just indicate on the form what payment arrangement you would like.

It's going to be a great year in the Walker Band!  There are lots of opportunities for students to perform and grow as musicians.
