Countdown to Concert Time!

March is Music in our Schools Month!

We will celebrate Music in our Schools Month with a Homecoming/Reunion concert with WT White High School.  Their band will join us at Walker for a concert at 6:30 PM the evening of March 7.   We have 14 rehearsals until this performance.

Important Dates and Assignments

• Classroom Responsibilities     - Each student has 10 daily jobs to do in class each day
• Attend Extra rehearsals          - Each student should attend 3 or more before or after school rehearsals per week
• Practice Logs on Charms       - Each student needs to log their practice time in Charms weekly
• March 7 Reunion Concert       with WT White Band - 14 rehearsals till performance

9:00      Meet at Walker Bandroom - must have your own transportation - no busses
10:00    Travel to Thomas Jefferson High School - 4001 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75229 |
10 - 11  Warm up
11:15     Performances begin
12:30     Performances conclude - students dismissed

Maps and schedules have been given to the students - They are well prepared and are going to do a GREAT job!

Calling all Band Boosters! - if you have a student in band you are one.

The next Band Booster meeting is MONDAY Feb 11 at 5:30PM

We need to have several parents step up to be on the band booster board for next year.  Most of our board members are parents of 8th graders and will be moving on to High School next year.  Come join us and see if you are interested in being a board member.  The time commitment is small but the impact on our program is HUGE!  Come invest in our students!  See you there!

Solo Week

Solo Week!

7th and 8th Grade students are performing solos in class this week and some will be selected to perform at District Solo and Ensemble this coming weekend.

Beginners will be working on Lessons 16, 17 and Beethoven's 9th

Congratulations!

Three of our students participated in the All-City Honor Band this weekend.   Rachel Clinger, Francisco Lainez and Kristopher Vasquez were all selected to participate in the Honor Band from several hundred students that auditioned.  Congratulations!
